The Vehicles

Karma Gyesera Grand Coupe

The Gyesera is the closest thing on this list to a sure bet. Karma has shown the production-intent car, opened online configuration and says it will reach dealerships in December 2026. The four-seat luxury EREV pairs 80 miles of electric range with 360 miles of total range, 566 horsepower and a $139,995 base price. It’s low-volume and expensive, but it should give North America its first look at this new generation of EREVs.    Source

Hyundai Santa Fe EREV

Hyundai has put a name and a date on its first North American EREV: the Santa Fe EREV arrives in the first half of 2027 and will be built in Alabama. Hyundai is targeting more than 600 miles of total range and says the vehicle will use less than half the battery capacity of a comparable BEV. Electric-only range, battery size and pricing have not yet been announced.  Source

Genesis EREV SUV

Genesis plans to launch its first EREV SUV in early 2027, targeting more than 640 miles of total range. That’s firm enough for the Guide, but there’s still plenty we don’t know. Genesis hasn’t named the model or announced battery size, electric-only range or pricing. The important part for now: Hyundai Motor has explicitly placed a Genesis EREV SUV in its near-term product plan, alongside the Hyundai Santa Fe EREV. Source

Karma Amaris GT

Karma’s second new EREV is the two-door Amaris GT, scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2027. The company has already shown the car and previously announced more than 100 miles of electric range and more than 400 miles total. But Karma’s latest announcement does not restate those specifications, and pricing has not been announced. We’re treating the earlier range figures as preliminary until Karma publishes final production specifications. Source

Scout Traveler Harvester

The Traveler may be the most interesting early test of mainstream EREV demand. More than 85 percent of Scout reservations are for the Harvester range extender, and Scout says it will build the EREV first in response. The company targets approximately 150 miles of electric range and more than 500 miles total. Validation vehicles are planned for 2026, initial production for 2027 and first customer deliveries for 2028. Source

Scout Terra Harvester

Scout’s Terra pickup will use the same Harvester range-extender concept as the Traveler, targeting approximately 150 miles of electric driving and more than 500 miles of total range. The program is real: Scout’s South Carolina factory is already testing manufacturing processes, and both Terra and Traveler are planned for the plant. But Scout has said the Traveler Harvester comes first, and it has not announced a separate customer-delivery date for the Terra. Source

Jeep Grand Wagoneer REEV

Stellantis says the Grand Wagoneer REEV is coming in 2026, but the calendar is getting tight. Automotive News reported in September that production had slipped from May to November; Jeep subsequently told Car and Driver that the vehicle remains on track for this year. Preliminary information points to roughly 150 miles of electric range and more than 500 miles total. As of late September, Jeep has not announced an on-sale date. Source

Ram 1500 REV

The Ram 1500 REV combines a 92-kWh battery with a 3.6-liter V6 and 130-kW generator, targeting 690 miles of total range. The timing has moved around. Ram’s consumer site still shows projected 2026 availability, while Stellantis has more recently said 2027, and Automotive Newsreported that production is now expected to begin in mid-April. Pricing and final electric-only range have not been announced. Source

Ford F-150 Lightning EREV

Ford has confirmed that the next-generation F-150 Lightning will switch to an extended-range electric architecture, with electric motors driving the truck and an onboard gasoline generator supplying electricity when needed. Ford is targeting more than 700 miles of total range while retaining the electric torque and towing capability central to the Lightning. What Ford hasn’t given us yet is equally important: no battery size, electric-only range, price or availability date has been announced. Source

Also Worth Watching

Volvo XC60 and XC90 Long-Range Plug-In Hybrids

Volvo’s new XC60 and XC90 long-range plug-in hybrids are getting close to EREV territory, with projected U.S. electric ranges of 78 and 73 miles respectively. U.S. deliveries are expected in early 2027. But these remain parallel plug-in hybrids: the gasoline engine can mechanically drive the wheels. We’ll track them because their substantially longer electric range moves the PHEV proposition closer to electric-first driving, but they fall outside the EREV definition we’re using for the Guide.

Nissan Rogue e-POWER

The 2027 Rogue Hybrid brings Nissan’s e-POWER series-hybrid system to the U.S. this fall. Like an EREV, the gasoline engine generates electricity while electric motors drive the wheels. But the Rogue cannot be plugged in, so it doesn’t provide externally charged electric range. Nissan executives have also discussed range-extender systems for larger SUVs, although no specific North American EREV has been announced. We’ll track both, but the Rogue itself falls outside our EREV definition
